As well as the scenery, i also spend a large amount of my time making, converting and painting vehicles, in advance of our 'Wastelands' supplement for Babylon's Burning. Most of these are just cheap kids die cast cars, though a few are wargaming models.

As regards scale, i find anything in the range of 1:45 - 1:50 to be about right for 28mm mini's, 1:43 scale is generally too big. Most of the scenery i make, i create to a scale of 1:50, as it's easy to calculate and looks about right.

Anyway, here's some of them, click on a pic to embiggen it..

Nomad Armoured Truck

This is a biggie! it took me a while to build, the back is entirely scratchbuilt out of individual strips of wood and plasticard, built on a matchbox low loader trailer. the tractor is plated with more plasticard, and i added a firing platform to the top for added defense. The skull above the door is from the GW skeletons boxed set, pretty much everthing else is hand made.

Battered Ambulance

this is an old 60's mercede's ambulance, simply sprayed white with a brown inkwash over the top. the silver sections are where the original enamel paint had chipped off, which i just infilled with silver plain to make it look like the paint had blistered and peeled off in the heat and dust.

Cop Car

This is an American rally car, not sure what type, done up with an extra fuel tank on the back, and a light bar from a cheap ambulance. The gun is a Foundry Street Violence accessory. The sign on the door is just an old GW transfer!

Nomad Camper Van

This is a VW camper, modified with the wheels and accessories from a WW2 Willys Jeep model i cannibalised. I'm really please with this one, i sprayed it in blue, then used my airbrush to spray on a brown overspray as a dust effect, which i think worked out really well, especially on the drivers window, wherei masked off an area to make it look like the wipers worked.

Converted Hummer

This is a really nice model by a company called Victoria, which i picked up cheap. I really like Hummers, and want lots, so if anyone knows where to find these, let me know! They're much nicer, (and a hell of a lot cheaper!) than any of the resin versions i've seen around. all i did on this was a black respray, a quick drybrush and added window grills and a large bull bar. other than that i'ts standard.

3 Wheeler

This is a resin modeli picked up at partizan a while ago, from whom i can't remember, i got it because it looked quirky and the sort of thing someone might make out of a motorbike. I painted it grey, and inkwashed it black to give it that dirty, industrial look, and fastened a radio aerial to it.

Armed Pursuit Vehicle

This is a Mercedes Le Man car or something, i got cheap from a toy store for a couple of pounds, which I made it into an armed pursuit vehicle al'a Car Wars or Dark Future. Although the BB vehicle rules aren't going to be too similar to those, (most weapons will be fired by passengers, why waste a good gun by permanently bolting it to a car?) i figured people would want to play those sorts of encounter, so needed some models to playtest it, plus i've always had a soft spot for these sorts of cars! The guns are (i think!) GW necromunda weapons, all i did other than a respray was a light brown wash and replaced the windows with mesh. i may eventually paint a logo or insignia on it

Recovery Truck.

Yet another flea market find, this is a matchbox model, the rear towbar still raises and lowers, so it can be used in games. It's a very basic conversion with some plasticard on the front and a cupola on the roof.

Scavenger Behemoth

I made this from a whole heap of 1:35 model car oddments i had lying around in a bos (yet another pointless ebay purchase!) along with a few plasticard scratchbuilt bits like the window grill. it turned out quite well, i think. The idea of Scavs is that they travel around the wastelands looking for tradeable items, so they'd need something safe to do the travelling in...

Scav Unimog

All i did on this one, other than a respray, was to put some mesh over the windows, and a little 'anarchy' symbol instead of the mercedes logo...

Security Van

This is another one which turned out quite well, it's only converted with a couple of cupola mounts, and sprayed up in white with a brown inkwash to make it look dirty and old.

Tanker Lorry

This is one that i didn't do any conversion work on at all, just a respray. I particularly like how the metal fuel tank turen out.

Aeroplane!

Not sure whether to put this in scenery or vehicles, but i'll leave it here! this is a 1:48 scale kit i painted up and converted to make it look wrecked, but still in use. i added a couple of MG's to the wings, lifted the engine panel, added some patches to the wings, and painted oil leaks/scorching from the engine.
